Studio Art relies on a more traditional format, working within the rectangular shape of the canvas. As in Pavement, Mark uses materials such as glass beads, crushed glass embedded in the striping of the freeways and crushed auto glass. Several of the works also feature billboard fragments. While some of his other work, including Pavement and the sculptures in New Work involves trips out of the studio to work with road painting trucks and fabricators, Studio Art employs more straightforward methods of creation.
